This page shows the progression of an initial drawing to the completed painting for the artwork 'Curious Pivot'.

The media is acrylic and to some extent dictates the method of construction. Even using a retarder to slow the paint from drying, it is still only a minute or so before the paint loses its fluidity.

A build up of layers is needed to keep control of the acrylic media's progression. This style of construction is also used in oil paint. However, the rapidity of drying in acrylic paint makes this process more amenable to artists who like to experiment.
